Cameron Change Consultancy provided a team of 5 consultants to work with software house Science Systems to run a feedback-based coaching system which we devised specifically for the organisation. This system augmented the normal appraisal process by using outside experts to provide a longer range, more considered career development session for specific individuals. The consultants gathered feedback on specific individual's previous performance over the 18 months from a range of manager and colleague inputs, and discussed the current and future desired situation with the individual. The resulting action plan was owned by the individual, to be approved by his/her manager as appropriate. This work also involved providing upwards feedback summaries to managers, and talking the implications of this data through. The system has resulted in a significant rise in the retention figures for the organisation. Individuals feel their careers are being addressed, and the relevant experience and training is being identified.
